The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the whole person.  The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.  Psalm 19:7

Christian Dispute Resolution

You never thought you would end up here.  You never thought the things you hold closest - the most personal, most important parts of your life - would be left to the mercy of a judge or a jury.  You wonder if there is a better way to address these issues.  But you also want to protect your children, your financial security, and your future.  You need help bringing peace to the brokenness of the situation.

As a Christian, I believe in the wisdom of resolving conflicts outside of a courtroom.  As an attorney, I know the rules and procedures that govern if you get there.  In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul implores us to resolve our disputes before filing a lawsuit.   This particular method of dispute resolution seeks to use Christian principles and resources to help individuals resolve their disagreements.  By agreement of the parties, spiritual leaders, pastors, and/or counselors are often asked to participate in the conflict resolution process.   A client or opposing party need not be a Christian to participate; however, all parties must agree to the methods used.  Roegner Law primarily uses two types of Christian Conflict Resolution: Mediation and Arbitration.

Mediation.  The people with the conflict are the ones that remain in control.  You have the ability to agree - or not agree - on a resolution of your issues.  A mediator or mediators are present to help maintain peace, offer insight into the conflict and possible resolutions, and draft an agreement at the conclusion of the mediation.  In Christian mediation, the parties and mediators include prayer, the Bible, Holy Spirit, and other spiritual resources to guide the process and reach a resolution.

Arbitration.  The arbitrator or arbitrators are the decision-makers.  The parties agree on who the arbitrators will be.  The parties share their opinions and evidence with the arbitrators, and allow them to resolve the issues.  Different types of arbitration can be used, depending on the type of conflict at issue.  Like mediation, Christian arbitration includes the use of prayer, the Bible, Holy Spirit, and other spiritual resources to guide the process and reach a resolution.

For Christ Himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations.

Ephesians 2:14-15
